The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) was employed for analysis, and the estimation results indicated long-term interdependencies, where oil price shocks significantly influence the Real Gross Domestic Product, Consumer Price Index, and Real Exchange Rate in Nigeria. The study concluded that crude oil sales serve as the primary source of revenue and foreign earnings for Nigeria, making the economy heavily dependent on global oil prices. Consequently, most macroeconomic indicators are directly or indirectly affected by oil price fluctuations. Given that Nigeria lacks control over oil prices, the study recommended economic diversification to mitigate the adverse effects of external shocks. Specifically, the country should expand its exports beyond oil to non-oil sectors. Diversifying the economy and broadening the oil revenue base would help reduce dependence on crude oil and petroleum products. The Strait has effectively been closed following attacks on tankers and other energy infrastructure. <br> <br>Trump said the US was “getting very close to meeting our objectives” in the conflict. He repeated an earlier claim that the US doesn’t use the strait of Hormuz, and said that therefore other nations who do so will in future have to “guard and police” it. <br> <br>Writing in a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that would be “an easy military operation” for other countries. He wrote: We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran… The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them.” <br> <br>Several countries have joined European nations, Japan and Canada in signing a joint statement saying they are ready to help ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The statement from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada and other nations said: &quot;We condemn in the strongest terms recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial vessels in the Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure including oil and gas installations, and the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iranian forces... We express our readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait.&quot; <br> <br>There has been continuing turmoil in financial and energy markets due to soaring oil and gas prices, following attacks on shipping and energy infrastructure by Iran and a strike by Israel on Iran&#039;s natural gas fields. <br>The King and Queen welcomed the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu as they began their State Visit to the UK. <br> <br>State Visits generally take place twice a year and are an opportunity for building relationships with other countries. This particular event is significant as it’s the first Nigerian state visit since 1989. <br> <br>The President and First Lady were first greeted by Prince William and Princess Catherine at Fairmont Hotel Windsor. <br> <br>Their Royal Highnesses then accompanied them to Datchet Road, Windsor, where The President and First Lady received a Ceremonial Welcome. <br> <br>The King and Queen formally welcomed The President and First Lady at the Royal Dais, as a Royal Salute is fired in the Home Park in Windsor, and at the Tower of London. <br> <br>The Sovereign’s Escort gave a Royal Salute, and the Nigerian National Anthem was played. <br> <br>The President and First Lady then joined The King and Queen, and The Prince and Princess of Wales, in a carriage procession to Windsor Castle. <br> <br>In the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle, the carriage procession was met by a Guard of Honour and the Band of the Regiment.
