WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump was abruptly escorted from the White House press briefing room by a Secret Service agent on Monday evening following a shooting incident just outside the complex. Trump returned to the podium approximately nine minutes later to explain that a suspect had been shot by law enforcement near the White House fence on 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. According to the Secret Service, a 51-year-old male suspect approached an officer, claimed to have a weapon, and moved aggressively before being shot and hospitalized. The White House complex was not breached, and officials confirmed that no protectees were in danger during the incident.
