Most people think the Eyo Festival (Adamamu Orisha) is just a carnival. They are wrong. It is a sacred funeral rite that shuts down the biggest city in Africa. From the "Opambata" staff that blesses (or curses) you, to the forbidden Eyo Adimu that no one dares to look at, this is the true story of Isale Eko’s most powerful tradition.
Why are headties banned? Why do they beat people? And what really happens inside the "Agodo"?
