Jungle Midwives

In the remote jungles of northwest Colombia, where there are no hospitals or doctors, traditional midwives are often the only source of care for pregnant women. This documentary follows 28-year-old Keyla, an aspiring midwife, on her first solo examination deep in the rainforest, guided by the wisdom of her mentor Pacha, known for her plant-based remedies passed down through generations. Alongside nurse and activist Manuela, who fights for midwives’ recognition and safer births, these women risk treacherous journeys and political instability to offer life-saving support. It's a story of resilience, tradition, and the power of women helping women in one of Colombia’s most underserved regions.
