Between the 1970s and the 1980s a string of healthy babies suddenly dying shocked doctors at hospitals across Texas. As they try figure out what is causing the high infant mortality, a common factor begins to appear. In every unexplainable death, Genene Jones, a nurse was on shift. This quickly becomes a classic case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. The killer nurse claimed the lives at least 47 patients motivated by the thrill of a "code blue" and especially the reactions of family members when told of the death of a loved one.

Diagnosis: Unknown is a television docudrama series featuring reenactments and interviews with medical professionals, with each episode focusing real medical mysteries. From mysterious illness to killer staff, the show follows the dedicated team of medical professionals who struggle from crisis to cure and the patients who are fighting to survive.
