Nigel Farage took to the stage at his press conference in Plymouth, after Robert Jenrick introduced him as the country's "best hope".

Mr Farage opened his speech saying that "the national priorities of our leaders, especially in an increasingly dangerous world, have been completely awry for at least the last 15 and perhaps even 20 years", adding that defence was a "vital national issue".

The Reform UK Leader also repeated his pledge to use the Royal Navy and the Royal Marine's to stop an "invasion" of illegal migrants into the country, and warned that "hard left" riots could happen in the UK, the same as the ones taking place in France.

"Dont be complacent, because it's the other side of the Channel, dont think that it can't happen here - because it can," Mr Farage said.

He added that many of the protestors outside of the rally in Portsmouth he was speaking at "would be part of those disturbances if it was to occur. Sadly I think at some point it will occur."
