Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return to the UK next month with Archie and Lilibet after being offered a stay at a royal residence under the King’s security protection. The move is being seen as a major olive branch from Buckingham Palace and a sign that Charles wants to rebuild ties with his grandchildren, whom he has not seen since 2022. Harry had previously refused to bring his family back because of safety fears, but fresh assurances over secure accommodation and travel appear to have changed that. The visit will centre on Invictus Games events, but it could also become the biggest test yet of whether the royal family rift is finally starting to thaw.

Mark Dolan speaks with royal biographer, Angel Levin.
