Traditional customs influence the lives of people all over the planet. This film journey around the world takes us to locations that are exemplary for their completely different social traditions. A culture report, as it were, that describes the conversion of originally heathen Viking customs and the transformation into Christianity, like the millennia-old civilisation of Yemen. Warlike wedding dances of the men with curved daggers and Kalashnikovs in their hands chasten somewhat. The Himba people in Namibia live in a patriarchy. Especially women of a pre-pubertal age are well respected by the males. This cinematic confrontation with the most differing of cultures of the peoples of our world takes us from a visit to a Massai tribe in Kenya to the Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal. Here, the camera team needed strong nerves whilst filming the cremation of the dead on the banks of the Baghmati River in Kathmandu. Then, via Bali, the island of a thousand temples, it's off to the Philippines. Here, traditions of the former head-hunter tribe live on, along with an abstruse interpretation of the Catholic faith, including actual crucifixions on Good Friday. Shamanism, a faith orientation that dates back at least 5000 years, is still adhered to amongst several Indio tribes in Central America.
