This webinar will explore the rationale for assessing and screening the sexual health of young people with mental ill-health. Young people with mental health problems are at higher risk for experiencing sexual health concerns.

These may relate to sexuality, gender diversity, sexual development and sexual relationships, as well as sexual dysfunction that may be associated with their mental health concerns or their treatment.

This webinar will provide a framework for the assessment and screening of sexual behaviour and sexual identity and provide an overview of interventions.

Presenter

Dr Brian O’Donoghue, Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Research Fellow, Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health

Brian O’Donoghue is a consultant psychiatrist and a clinical research fellow at Orygen, The National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, where he leads a multi-disciplinary team in providing treatment for early psychosis in young people. His research interests are the delivery of effective treatment for psychotic disorders with minimum side effects or harmful effects.

Brian completed his medical degree at the University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland and obtained a Masters degree in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of London. He has submitted my PhD on the epidemiology of psychotic disorders to UCD and has co-authored close to 50 publications in youth mental health.
