They Thought They Planned The Perfect Heist | The Double Cross | Full Crime Thriller Movie - When Joe loses his dad in a sting, he contacts his dad's twin, Lou, who has a major sting planned. But with shifting loyalties, an erratic henchman in the mix, and a massive stash of stolen valuables on the line—who is truly conning who? Directed by Christopher Coppola, The Double Cross (also known as Deadfall) is a twisted, neon-soaked 1993 crime-noir thriller that plunges viewers deep into the world of elite grifters and unexpected betrayals. Raised in the criminal underworld by his father, Mike (James Coburn), young con artist Joe Donan (Michael Biehn) sees his life shatter when a fake drug sting goes catastrophically wrong. A prop gun is secretly loaded with live ammunition, resulting in Joe accidentally killing his own father. With his final breaths, Mike instructs Joe to recover "the cake"—a legendary, hidden cache of stolen valuables—and sends him to track down his estranged, long-lost twin brother, Lou Donan (also played by James Coburn). Joe travels to Santa Monica, California, to find his Uncle Lou, a master grifter who instantly sucks Joe into his next big high-stakes operation. However, the atmosphere turns volatile when Joe meets Lou's highly erratic, wildly eccentric associate, Eddie, played in a legendary, unforgettable performance by Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage. Eddie feels instantly threatened by the new recruit, creating a ticking time bomb of tension. Things spiral further out of control when Joe falls hard for Eddie’s alluring girlfriend, Diane (Sarah Trigger), and the two begin plotting a secret heist to steal the con proceeds for themselves. Featuring stellar powerhouse appearances by Charlie Sheen as Morgan Gripp, Peter Fonda as Pete, and Talia Shire as Sam, this fast-paced crime web builds to a shocking, mind-bending climax where nothing is what it seems.
