RUMP arrives for UK state visit - as Epstein images projected onto Windsor Castle | ITV News

US President Donald Trump has arrived in the UK for his unprecedented second state visit.

Air Force One touched down at London Stansted Airport on Tuesday evening.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper was among those greeting the US President and First Lady Melania Trump as they arrived.

RAF personnel from The King’s Colour Squadron lined up in a guard of honour as he stepped off the plane.

President Trump and the First Lady travelled by helicopter to Winfield House, the official residence of the US ambassador in Regent’s Park.

On arrival, Trump was asked about his feelings towards the UK and said: “I have a lot of things here that warm my heart. I want to tell you. It’s a very special place.”

Talking about his relationship with the King, he said: “He’s been a friend of mine for a long time, and everybody respects him, and they love him.”

The US president will visit Windsor Castle on Wednesday, where he will be treated to a ceremonial welcome and a lavish state banquet.

Speaking to reporters before departure from Washington, the US president called the King "an elegant gentleman".

Trump described the King as “my friend” and noted it was “the first time it has ever happened where somebody was honoured twice” with a state visit.

He called the state visit "a great honour," adding this time the visit was at Windsor rather than Buckingham Palace.

“My relationship is very good with the UK, and Charles, as you know, who’s now King, is my friend," Trump said.

“It’s the first time this has ever happened where somebody was honoured twice. So, it’s a great honour.

“And this one’s at Windsor. They’ve never used Windsor Castle for this before. They use Buckingham Palace. And I don’t want to say one’s better than the other, but they say Windsor Castle is the ultimate, right? So it’s going to be nice.”

He stressed that his visit was “primarily” to meet the King and Queen and said: "They’re friends of mine for a long time, long before he was King, and it’s an honour to have this King.

"And, you know, I think he represents the country so well. He’s such an elegant gentleman and he represents the country so well."

On Thursday, he will spend the day with Sir Keir Starmer.
