 Skills for Life Project Inter-School Competition

 

 Are you gifted, competitive, enjoys a challenge or taking part?

You are in good company whatever your response is.

 

We are accepting application from potential participants tenagers.

Competition is open to every young person <25 to take part. 

Tell us your story as a poem, play, or as a lived experience told to an audience.  Have fun expressing yourself and engaging with others. 

Apply to MyHealthnet network to part in Skills for Life Competition.  Share your story and help young people to stay say and access service. MyHealthnet is free, confidential, available remotely and in person.  We can also help you access other services too.

It is often assumed that young people are well and happy until they are not, and then it is too late.  So, we proactively engage all young people.

Signposting Health  In promoting health and well-being, we are inviting people to engage in the signposting health service. And to engage, we have developed skills for life activities.

This competition is an activity designed for young people everywhere. Students, groups, places of worship and other areas. 

Our youths need time access health advice, and support, and to engage with peers to reduce the impact of social and environmental pressures. 

This positive health and learning project help young people to learn about themselves and to make right life choices for them. 

Engage with our service, join, or lead self-expression competitions, gain life skills and access to healthcare advice as and when required.  

Educators, parents, guardians, and older youths can join us to:

a) assist young people to access our signposting service and

b) help teenagers 16-19-year olds wishing to enrol in the competition.

 

To take part:  

Quarterly Submissions: 

Start project 2022 26th November - February 11th 2023

Start project 23rd February - Present May 23rd 

Quarterly Submissions: Send expression of interest

Start project 6th May - Presentation May 26th and 29th.

 

Submit details with summarised project description for approval maximum 500 words.  Only suitable projects and students age 16-19 years old are accepted for project.  Verified written consent is required from parents of 9-15 year olds or other adult overseers.  

Send individual, group, club, or school entry to MyHealthnet by deadline.

Project Aim:  To develop supported self-help group within schools, learning resource, improving access to service, communicating essential survival skills, strengthening relations, and promoting trust whilst meeting their personal needs and enhancing life skills. 

Format: Health and or lifestyle project, health workshop, life line musical or drama, focus group, political debate, or campaign between peers.  

Choose 4 to 6 topics from either Health or lifestyle management Issues.  4 Goups.  Fun and educational projects per organisation.

Topics to choose from:  Growing Pain, STI/STDs, Sex, Rape, Teen Pregnancy, Sexual health, Mental health, Friendship Relationship, Abuse, Parenting, My Body, Work-life experience, Volunteering, Health Checks, Accessing service, Sex Trafficking, Sexual Health Clinics, Peer Pressure, Counselling, Choices, Being Different, Contraception, Living with HIV, Saying No, Substance Abuse, Being an Adolescents, Covid-19, Condom, Fundraising, Holidays, Project Management.  Participants develops the context based on anecdotal, lived experience or other forms of learning.

Participants will receive support, guidance on their presentation before presentation, and certificate of participation.  The completed projects will become an online learning resource MyHealthnet platforms.
