Andy Burnham is preparing to set out a new economic direction as pressure builds over who will shape his incoming government.

The former Manchester mayor reportedly fears a Blair-Brown-style split with Ed Miliband if he appoints him as chancellor.

Sources close to Mr Burnham said he's keen to avoid conflict between No 10 and the Treasury, with allies warning that Mr Miliband would be a risky choice.
