Antonio Berlinghieri (a masterful Ugo Tognazzi), a conservative and serious businessman in his late thirties, has his orderly life turned upside down by a chance encounter with a boisterous and carefree group of young people. He is immediately and inexplicably drawn to the beautiful and seductive Francesca (a very young Catherine Spaak), whose unpredictable nature awakens a long-dormant, foolish desire within him.
Irresistibly infatuated, Antonio clumsily tries to shed his bourgeois identity to fit in with the youths, desperately chasing an illusion of freedom and his own lost youth. Directed by the great Luciano Salce, "Crazy Desire" is a landmark of 'Commedia all'italiana' (Italian-style comedy).
