Whether you're planning a civil ceremony at a stunning licensed venue or a simple ceremony at your local Register Office, it’s vital to understand that your marriage or civil partnership must be conducted and registered by an official registrar. Without this legal process, your ceremony won’t be valid.

Here's what to expect:

✅ Booking Your Registrars
Your first step is to contact your local registration service to make a provisional ceremony booking. A non-refundable “Save the Date” fee is usually required, and your chosen date and time are only secured once both parties have given legal notice within the required timeframe.

✅ Giving Legal Notice
Both parties must attend an appointment in person at your local Register Office to give what’s known as “notice of marriage” or “notice of civil partnership.” This must be done at least 28 days before your ceremony and can be given up to 12 months in advance.

✅ What Happens on the Day?
