Euro, Yen & GBP: What the Dollar Index Below 100 Means Right Now

Pro Trader Lawton Ho of Verified Investing breaks down the four currency charts every trader needs on their radar right now. The Dollar Index has cratered below 100 and hasn't recovered since April 7th — and while the headlines focus on stocks, the real story is the structural shift happening across global currencies. Central banks are cutting, the BOJ is hiking, and yet the dollar keeps bleeding. Here's what the charts are telling us.

What Lawton covers in this Pro Charts: Currency video:

???? DXY (Dollar Index) — Below 100 and well-established under that key level since April 7th. Lawton breaks down the upsloping trendline that should cap any bounce around 101, plus the closer resistance levels at the 99.19 double pivot high and the 99.50 gap fill. The pattern setup favors continued downside.

???????? USD/JPY (Japanese Yen) — Despite the Bank of Japan raising rates, the yen remains weak versus the dollar because the U.S. still pays higher rates. A textbook bearish flag is forming — down move, sideways-to-upward consolidation. A break of the upsloping parallel channel opens the door to a retest of the July 2024 lows. Big implications for anyone watching Japan travel costs, too.

???????? EUR/USD (Euro) — The European Central Bank is cutting rates, but the euro is still relatively strong because the dollar is even weaker. A potential inverse head and shoulders is forming, with the right shoulder still developing. Measured move targets 1.23 — a level not seen since 2021. Pattern invalidates on a break below the 1.14 head.

???????? GBP/USD (British Pound) — A clean downsloping trendline coming into its third hit, which historically favors a pullback before the breakout. If price pushes up, retraces, and breaks the pivot high, 1.40 is the first target with 1.4025 as the extended level.

???? Tickers Covered: $DXY $USDJPY $EURUSD $GBPUSD
