Harald V, King of Norway has died at the age of 89. His majesty had been on the throne for 35 years, since January 17, 1991.

Upon the moment of his death, his son and heir apparent, acceded the throne as King Haakon VIII.
Let’s look back at the sailor King’s incredible life; a childhood escape from the Nazis, sailing in three Olympics, standing up for the right to marry the woman he loved, Queen Sonja, and serving his people for 33 years.
