Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has called on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to publish details of his meetings with Manchester City figures, questioning whether anything is being withheld.

The demand follows comments from Mr Burnham about the future of Manchester City and its owner, the Abu Dhabi United Group, which came under scrutiny over allegations of breaches of Premier League financial rules.

Mr Burnham said last week that he would be "really concerned" if ADUG were forced to sell the club after being found guilty of breaching those rules. His remarks prompted criticism from some fans, leading Downing Street to issue two clarifications of the Prime Minister's position.

Mrs Badenoch was asked whether Mr Burnham should publish all meetings he had with people connected to Manchester City during his time as mayor.

"He should. I'm surprised he hasn't done that already," she told GB News.

When asked what information should be released, the Conservative leader replied: "Everything. The Freedom of Information requests should get those things out. Otherwise, what's being hidden?"

Mrs Badenoch also criticised Mr Burnham's comments, arguing that he was still approaching the issue as though he were mayor of Manchester rather than Prime Minister.

"I think that the comments he made showed that he still thinks he is the mayor of Manchester. He is not acting like the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom," she said.

She then argued that the Prime Minister should instead focus on issues including defence, the economy, welfare and increased drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea.

The dispute centres on Mr Burnham's comments about Manchester City and its ownership, with Badenoch now pressing him to disclose his meetings with figures connected to the club.
