The visit runs from April 27 to April 30 and marks the first official state visit of President Trump’s second term. It is also a significant diplomatic moment for the King, with the trip taking place during the 250th anniversary year of American independence and amid renewed focus on the UK-US “special relationship”.

The royal visit is expected to include a White House welcome, a state dinner, a Congressional address, and engagements in Washington, New York and Virginia. It comes after Buckingham Palace confirmed the trip would go ahead following security discussions in the wake of a recent shooting in Washington.
