Barry Gardiner has criticised some of his colleagues after they showed support for Keir Starmer in the wake of a dramatic week where his leadership was challenged by Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar.
Asked on BBC Politics Live whether he thought it was true that the prime minister had the support of his peers, veteran Labour MP Gardiner said it was "staggering" that they should give him a "standing ovation for three minutes" after hearing what his colleagues had been saying for the past few months.

Gardiner was discussing the PM’s future and the Labour Party with Conservative peer and former cabinet secretary Lord Harper and The Spectator’s Madeline Grant.
