Ok, so when the POTUS is one board ANY aircraft, it is called AIR FORCE ONE. However, there is going to be a new jet, a new Boeing 747-8 jet for Air Force One that the Qatari government donated in 2025 as an "unconditional" gift to the USA.

THE OLD...
This classic airframe is no ordinary 747, this is a highly modified Boeing 747 designated in the military as a Boeing VC-25. Fom Presidents Roosevelt to Trump, Boeing airplanes have been transporting U.S. presidents around the world. The role of the VC-25 is to provide air transport for the president of the United States. There are two presidential aircraft in the fleet of two specially configured Boeing 747-200B’s. The tail numbers are 28000 and 29000. When the US president is on board either of the aircraft, or in fact any Air Force aircraft, the radio call sign is "Air Force One."

Main differences between the VC-25 and a standard Boeing 747, other than the number of passengers that it can carry on board, are the electronic and communications equipment, self-contained baggage loader, front and aft air-stairs, and the capability for in-flight refueling.

The president's accommodation include an executive suite consisting of a stateroom (with dressing room, lavatory and shower) and the president's office. A conference/dining room is also available for the president, his family and staff. Other separate accommodations are provided for guests, senior staff, Secret Service and security personnel and the news media.

There are two galleys that provide up to 100 meals in one sitting. On top of all the luxuries there are six passenger WC's, which includes disabled access facilities, a rest area and mini-galley for the aircrew. The VC-25 also has a compartment outfitted with medical equipment and supplies for minor medical emergencies.

Live from RAF Mildenhall, home to the 100th Air Refeuling wing. It is very similar to Brize Norton, with the exception of the very futuristic looking CV-22 Osprey, which is part of the 352d Special Operations Wing (352 SOW) and the RC-135 Rivet Joint of the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron.

After being inactivated on 25 June 1958, it was redesignated as the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron on 20 January 1982 and reactivated at RAF Alconbury in the United Kingdom on 1 October 1982. It flew Lockheed U-2 and TR-1 aircraft in support of NATO and United States Air Forces Europe missions. After the end of the Cold War, the 95th was no longer needed and the unit was inactivated on 15 September 1993. This hiatus did not last long as the unit was reactivated on 1 July 1994 at RAF Mildenhall, this time flying the RC-135 Rivet Joint and OC-135 Open Skies aircraft. The 95th are assigned to the 55th Operations Group, Air Combat Command, stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Their tail code is OF, which you can see on their RJ’s.

The 352nd Wing serves as the focal point for all U.S. Air Force special operations activities throughout the European theater for U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), as well as Africa for U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) and Southwest Asia and the Middle East for U.S. Central Command. The wing is prepared to conduct a variety of high priority, low-visibility missions supporting U.S. and allied special operations forces during peacetime, joint operations exercises, and combat operations. It trains and performs special operations primarily in the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM area of operations, including establishing air assault landing zones, controlling close air support by strike aircraft and gunships, and providing trauma care for wounded and injured personnel.

The 100th Air Refueling Wing is RAF Mildenhall's current host wing and the only permanent U.S. air refueling wing in the European theatre, activated here on February 1, 1992. The wing provides the critical air refueling "bridge" that allows the Expeditionary Air Force to deploy around the globe on a moment's notice. The Bloody Hundredth is comprised of the 100th Maintenance Group, the 100th Mission Support Group, and the 100th Operations Group.
