???? BABACHIR LAWAL JOINS NDC — BACKS OBI-KWANKWASO

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), roughly three months after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Lawal has also declared support for the Peter Obi–Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election. He cited concerns including insecurity, economic hardship, hunger, ignorance and disease as factors influencing his decision.

Lawal previously left the ADC after alleging that its presidential primary process had been manipulated. Those allegations were his claims and should not be treated as independently established facts.

???????? JOE KESHI ON TINUBU'S UNGA ABSENCE

Former Nigerian diplomat Joe Keshi has defended Nigeria's representation at the United Nations General Assembly despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's absence.

Keshi argues that the key issue should be the quality of Nigeria's representation and the issues Nigeria advances at UNGA, rather than whether the President personally attends. He pointed to Vice President Kashim Shettima leading Nigeria's delegation as sufficient representation.

This raises an important question: Does Nigeria's diplomatic effectiveness at UNGA depend primarily on presidential attendance, or on the strength of the delegation and the issues it presents?
