Her lens focuses on Hillsdale, Oregon, where local car mechanic and graphic artist Kevin Reese is facing the ultimate penalty. However, as Lauren begins her filming, she hits an impenetrable wall of silence. The local community flatly refuses to cooperate, and Detective Tom Redler—who is also serving as the governor-appointed liaison for the case—claims to have mysteriously "lost the file." Sensing a cover-up, Lauren digs deeper. Guided by testimonies from Kevin's employer and roommate, she begins to piece together a disturbing puzzle, rapidly becoming convinced that Kevin is entirely innocent and was deliberately framed. As the execution clock ticks down, Lauren joins forces with forensic expert Patty Sutton and Redler’s own skeptical deputy. Together, they uncover a trail of corrupted evidence pointing to a terrifying conclusion: Detective Redler himself is the actual killer, and he is willing to commit further violence to ensure his secrets die with Kevin on the gallows.
