A fresh diplomatic clash is brewing between Britain and Israel after Benjamin Netanyahu took a swipe at the UK.

Netanyahu referred to Britain as an “Islamic republic” in a podcast, prompting a sharp rebuke from London.

The UK called the remarks “completely unacceptable” and said Britain had raised the issue with the Israeli government.

In an earlier BBC radio interview, Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer appeared to downplay Netanyahu’s comments.
