The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has begun implementing new pension increments under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), with adjustments reflected in the September 2025 payroll. Approximately 832,000 retirees will receive a fixed N32,000 payment and percentage increases of 10.66% and 12.95% for eligible categories. The announcement follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of welfare measures for pensioners, in response to PTAD’s request for an emergency budgetary allocation. Chartered Accountant Olusesan Okunade joins us to discuss the implications of these reforms, how they will improve retirees’ livelihoods, and what pensioners can expect in the coming months.
