'Iran - People Of The Flame' is a spiritual and cultural travelogue through Iran, following photojournalist David Adams as he searches for the roots of the world’s oldest monotheistic religion: Zoroastrianism. While modern Iran is often seen through the lens of Islamic fundamentalism, Adams takes viewers "behind the veil" to show that its foundation lies in the teachings of the prophet Zarathustra (Zoroaster). The documentary is a 2,500-mile odyssey from the chaotic streets of Tehran to the remote Elburz Mountains, visiting the legendary Fortress of the Assassins and the troglodyte village of Kandovan. Ultimately, it explores how Zoroastrian concepts—like a single God, Heaven and Hell, and a final judgment—became the blueprints for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
