From the "Paki-bashing" era of the 1970s to the rise of far-right organizations like the National Front and the BNP, the film documents a harrowing cycle of violence, robbery, and targeted abuse directed at the Bengali and Afro-Caribbean communities.

Central to the narrative is the 1978 murder of Altab Ali, a moment that galvanized the East End and forced a national conversation on racial justice. We observe the friction between aggressive street politics and the slow-moving machinery of the British legal system. The film asks a haunting, contemporary question: Can anti-discrimination legislation—such as the Race Relations Acts or the modern Equality Act—effectively dismantle a culture of hatred when the prejudice is woven into the very fabric of the streets?
