Andy Burnham has unveiled his first Cabinet after replacing Sir Keir Starmer as prime minister.

The reshuffle removes several major figures from Starmer’s government. Rachel Reeves has been replaced as Chancellor by John Healey, while David Lammy and Peter Kyle have also been sacked.

Ed Miliband becomes Foreign Secretary, Wes Streeting takes over at Defence and Yvette Cooper moves to Health. Shabana Mahmood remains Home Secretary.

Angela Rayner and Louise Haigh have both returned to senior government positions. Rayner becomes Housing Secretary, while Haigh takes a role incorporating the responsibilities of deputy prime minister.

Burnham has also scrapped the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and created a new AI ministerial position as he begins reshaping the Government around his political and economic agenda.
