Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv as U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner meet Russian officials in Moscow to revive diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Putin said the pause was ordered after a request through Russian security and Foreign Ministry channels and was intended to ensure the safety of the negotiation process. Witkoff thanked Putin for supporting a no-shoot policy around Kyiv and Moscow, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine was prepared to refrain from strikes on Moscow through Monday. The Kremlin said Putin’s talks with the U.S. delegation lasted more than three hours and covered the battlefield situation, the conflict’s underlying causes and potential Russian-American economic cooperation. The envoys are expected to travel to Kyiv after their Moscow meetings.
