: Sacked Olly Robbins To Expose Mandelson Vetting Scandal In Parliament

Keir Starmer faces a mounting political crisis over the Mandelson vetting scandal as sacked Foreign Office chief Sir Olly Robbins prepares to give his own account to MPs.

Sir Keir will address Parliament on Monday after admitting officials made an "unforgivable" error by failing to tell him Peter Mandelson had failed his security vetting before being appointed UK Ambassador to the US. Sir Keir insists he was kept in the dark — but faces serious allegations that he misled MPs by claiming the proper vetting process had been followed.

Sir Olly Robbins, who was effectively fired last week, will appear before the Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday, where MPs are expected to press him on whether Lord Mandelson was granted developed vetting (DV) status despite failing the checks carried out by security clearance experts — and crucially, who knew what and when.

With Keir Starmer's resignation odds shortening and questions mounting over the role of Foreign Secretary David Lammy and the wider Foreign Office, this is one of the biggest political scandals of the current Labour government.
