Stockpiling: Britons urged to prepare for a national emergency as ‘Be Ready’ checklist released
► How prepared are you for a crisis?
Households are being encouraged to take steps to prepare for a national emergency, with the PM saying on Friday that unexpected events are becoming “more common” and everyone should have supplies to last a few days.
The government recommends having enough supplies in the kitchen to last three days, including bottled water and non-perishable foods.
Wet wipes, a torch and cash are also recommended.
The advice is the first stage of a three-year ‘Be Ready’ campaign to help households prepare for events from severe weather to cyber-attacks.
