A prospector and his son battle vengeful bandits over a disputed claim during the California Gold Rush.
This film, set during the 1854 California Gold Rush, follows William Teller and his son Thomas on a perilous journey to stake a gold claim. Recently widowed, William convinces Thomas to join him in what's actually a plan to steal from his former partner, the wealthy and ruthless Baron Eustus O'Leary.
As they discover a rich gold deposit, their horses are stolen, leaving them stranded. William injures his foot, complicating their escape. Meanwhile, the Baron hires a dangerous killer, CG, to hunt them down.
The story intertwines themes of greed, redemption, and family loyalty. Thomas reveals he's in love with the Baron's daughter, Sadie, adding another layer of conflict.
The film vividly depicts the harsh realities of the Gold Rush era, exploring how the promise of wealth drives men to both heroic and villainous acts, while touching on themes of faith, colonization, and the corrupting influence of gold.
