The company has operated in Nigeria for over a century and like many foreign businesses, has grown significantly over the years by taking advantage of opportunities in Africa's largest consumer market. But it is one of only a handful of foreign companies listed on the stock exchange.
New portfolio investors seeking exposure to the Nigerian consumer and oil story on the bourse are often disappointed because while there are 200 listed stocks, only about 40 companies offer shares that are reasonably liquid. The rest are relatively small companies that hardly trade.
