While to some people the movie industry is seen as an escape from the real world and its issues, Hollywood and the American film industry is not without its problems of racism, sexism and homophobia. As a result of blatant policies and unconscious biases, the film industry has a long history of discriminating against marginalized communities, both on and off screen.
