Tinubu addresses Nigeria on Democracy Day


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong warning to bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terrorism during his Democracy Day address to the nation.

Speaking on June 12, as Nigeria marked 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule, President Tinubu declared that criminals threatening the country's peace and security must surrender or face decisive action from the government.

The President said, "To bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror: Surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State." He added that the opportunity for surrender would not remain open indefinitely and vowed that no mercy would be shown to those responsible for the killing and abduction of innocent Nigerians.

President Tinubu also called on Nigerians to remain united in the fight against insecurity, stressing that crime has no ethnic or religious identity. According to him, citizens should avoid blaming particular groups and instead work together to defeat criminal elements threatening national stability.

The President expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, assuring citizens that the nation's enemies would soon be defeated. His remarks come amid growing concerns over kidnappings and security challenges in several parts of the country.

As Nigerians celebrate Democracy Day, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration's commitment to protecting lives and property while strengthening democratic governance and national unity.
