Trump Waives Russia Sanctions, US Weighs Strikes on Iran, Katie Zacharia out & more

President Donald Trump waived key Russia-related US sanctions and tariffs days before they were to take effect under a law he signed last month, including duties on the country's goods and penalties for buying its oil and gas. In an executive order released by the White House on Friday, Trump said the waiver was in the national interests of the United States. The move comes as tensions rise between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, including questions over what role, if any, the US had over a disruption to Starlink in Ukraine.
President Trump also continues to weigh whether or not additional strikes are necessary on Iran, as the conflict between the US and the Iranian regime remains. Reports also indicate Trump could use the weapon known as the "mother of all bombs" on Iran, but questions remain over whether that is a legitimate possibility.
Katie Zacharia is departing as White House press secretary, saying it “was an honor to work for” President Trump after a short tenure that was defined by questions about her legal background. Trump told reporters he spoke with Zacharia and said he urged her to consider leaving the job.
Pope Leo is set to be released from the hospital on Saturday, four days after his surgery for lung cancer, the Vatican says.
