At about 8:15 Saturday morning, air‑raid sirens blared across Israel. Moments later, reports of a massive, coordinated U.S.–Israeli preemptive strike on Iran. Explosions were reported across Tehran and multiple military sites as the White House released a recorded address from President Donald Trump.
The United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally, again, obliterated.
Israeli officials confirmed hundreds of strikes, including missile launchers in western Iran, while U.S. forces targeted Iranian naval assets in the Persian Gulf. The Israel Defense Forces say the operation was months in the making, built around a major intelligence effort to identify what it called an operational opportunity when senior Iranian officials were convened. Officials also confirmed the strike was deliberately launched in the morning, not under the cover of darkness.
In a video message delivered in Hebrew, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the goal is to remove what he calls an existential threat posed by the Islamic Republic and to create conditions for Iranians to change their destiny. A message echoed by President Trump.
To the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered. Don't leave your home. It's very dangerous outside. Bombs will be dropping everywhere. When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for a generation.
In response, Iran fired multiple barrages toward Israel. Israeli authorities report at least one man lightly injured. Reports also indicate Iran's supreme leader has been moved to a secure location as the situation remains fluid. Back in Washington, President Trump issued a direct warning to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, urging them to lay down their weapons or face certain destruction. He also called on divine protection for U.S. forces.
We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans and our children will never be threatened by a nuclear‑armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm's way, and we trust that with His help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail.
The president closed his address with a final appeal to the Iranian people.
So let's see how you respond. America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force. Now is the time to seize control of your destiny and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is close within your reach.
