Fast-track asylum deportations to be announced by UK government | BBC News
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will announce sweeping reforms to the UK’s asylum policy when she addresses MPs today.
The changes will include fast-tracking the deportation of illegal migrants, an overhaul of human rights law and plans to end multiple appeals against removal.
Mahmood also threatens to stop granting visas to people from three African countries if their governments do not improve co-operation on removals of illegal migrants.
Asylum claims in Britain are at a record high, with around 111,000 applications in the year to June 2025, according to official figures.
