In a sudden shift from threats to pause, Donald Trump said he would halt US military action against Iran, at least for now, signalling a possible opening for diplomacy. Posting on Truth Social, Trump said, “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” framing the move as part of a broader push toward a ceasefire. The decision, he said, followed conversations with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army chief Asim Munir, who urged him to hold off on planned strikes. Iran has accepted Pakistan’s two-week ceasefire proposal. The ceasefire has been approved by the country’s new supreme leader, signalling a possible opening for de-escalation. Iran said talks with the US should not be interpreted as signalling the end of the war, adding that its 10-point proposal calls for lifting all primary and secondary sanctions, full compensation payments, and the release of all frozen Iranian assets.
