Watch Again | Drag Race UK is Racist and We Need to Talk About It
.
.
RuPaul's Drag Race UK has a racism problem! For seven seasons and counting, the BBC show has portrayed drag queens of color in a negative light, ensuring the success of white queens as the seemingly superior set of performers. For my last Drag Race video on this channel, @ThatArchieMerc and I deconstruct Drag Race UK's patterns of racism hidden within the show's reality TV format, editing, and production decisions. In the end, we’ll teach you about media literacy, the history of British television, and what you can do to help the current state of drag.
UPDATE (9/22/2026): Part #3 was unfortunately cut due to a copyright claim, even after disputing it for fair use. It was an exercise in media literacy to deconstruct the Roast episode from Series 7 by showing the editing tricks used to convince of Tayris's elimination.
