I traveled deep into Appalachia — to Danville, Virginia the birthplace of the KKK, and nearby communities just south of West Virginia — to explore a question many people think they already know the answer to: does racism still exist in some of the most isolated, poorest white towns in America? Most people assume stories like this belong in places like Zinc or Harrison, Arkansas — but this journey took me somewhere else entirely.
What I found was far more complex than the headlines suggest.
This is a raw, unfiltered documentary from places most Americans will never visit. I spoke directly with locals — including self-described hillbillies — to hear their side of the story and better understand daily life in forgotten corners of the country.
