Mick Lynch goes head-to-head with Reform UK’s Laila Cunningham in a fiery debate over wages, immigration, public services and what working-class politics should actually look like.

Cunningham argues that economic growth comes from businesses and risk-takers rather than government intervention, attacking higher minimum wages and Labour’s approach to employment.

Lynch immediately turns the argument around.

If making workers more expensive is supposedly the problem, he asks, is Reform’s solution simply that working people should accept lower wages?

The confrontation gets even sharper when Cunningham moves onto immigration and argues that social housing and welfare should primarily benefit British nationals.

Lynch refuses to accept the premise.

He argues that Britain works because people contribute collectively through taxation and public services — including people who have come from abroad and built their lives here.

Then comes the line that defines the entire exchange.

Lynch tells Cunningham that Reform’s politics are built around:

“Isolating people and taking advantage of poverty so that you can divide them and make your friends even richer.”

Cunningham responds that she doesn’t even understand what Lynch is saying.

That only opens the door for him to go harder.

Lynch accuses Reform of presenting itself as the champion of working people while supporting policies he believes would weaken workers, public services and trade unions.

The argument becomes a fundamental clash over two competing visions of Britain:

One built around lower costs for employers, tighter immigration rules and restricting access to public support.

The other built around stronger wages, trade unions, redistribution and collective public investment.

Whatever side you take, Mick Lynch refuses to let Reform claim the mantle of the working class without challenging what its policies would actually mean for workers.
